    Answer Ownership Index (AOI)

    The Answer Ownership Index measures how often and how prominently your brand appears in AI-generated responses across multiple AI search systems.

    What It Is

    As AI search becomes more prevalent, appearing in AI-generated answers is crucial for visibility. The AOI tracks:

    • Brand mentions in AI responses
    • Citation frequency when AI references your content
    • Competitive share compared to competitors
    • Trend analysis over time

    How AOI Is Calculated

    The AOI uses a weighted scoring system:

    Scores range from 0-100, where:

    Generating Snapshots

    To track your AOI:

    1. Go to Answer Ownership in your project
    2. Click Generate Snapshot
    3. The system tests your configured prompts against multiple AI providers
    4. Results are compiled into your AOI score
    5. What Gets Tested

      • ChatGPT (OpenAI): GPT-4 responses
      • Claude (Anthropic): Claude 3 responses
      • Perplexity: Real-time search responses

      Understanding Results

      Overview Dashboard

      • Current AOI Score: Your latest overall score
      • Trend Chart: Historical AOI over time
      • Provider Breakdown: Scores per AI system

      Prompt-Level Analysis

      For each prompt tested:

      • Whether your brand was mentioned
      • Where in the response you appeared
      • Competitors mentioned
      • Suggested improvements

      Top Losses

      The system identifies prompts where:

      • Your visibility decreased
      • Competitors gained ground
      • Quick wins are available

      Content Strategies

      1. Create authoritative content that AI systems can cite

        1. Optimize for featured snippets (often used as AI sources)

          Track competitor AOI by:

          1. Go to Answer Ownership > Competitors
          2. Add competitor domains
          3. Generate snapshots to compare
          4. See who "owns" each prompt

            Set up automatic tracking:

            1. Go to Settings > Scheduling
            2. Enable Answer Ownership snapshots
            3. Choose frequency (weekly recommended)
            4. Snapshots generate automatically
